John Seebeth was a Dustoff medic

As a young soldier, John strives to save lives and then had his own life saved. Linda has documented his story in their recently released historical novel, An Introduction to War. John's journey takes a hard look at the Vietnam War as well as his beloved country that sent him off to fight it. His story examines war, dealing with a stigma, education and gaining new perspectives.

"Dustoff" was the radio call sign used for Army medical evacuations in Vietnam. They took that name because the helicopter's rotor wash blows dust, dirt, poncho liners and whatnot all over the men on the ground (as depicted in the painting below by Vietnam veteran and chopper crew chief Joe Kline).

As military personnel continue to return from wars with wounds and disturbing memories, Americans would benefit from recognizing the far-reaching impacts of war. An Introduction to War provides unsavory truths while rekindling the dream of an America that lives in our hearts.

"An Introduction to War should be required reading for all policy makers that send our youth to war."     (Retired U.S. Naval Officer)

"Don't know when I've been so engrossed in a book. No, it was not an easy read, but I certainly came away with a different perspective on war and our government"     (Kathryn, age 90)

“John’s transformation process is a roadmap that gives hope and understanding to our war-worn culture.”     (J.S., college student)
