Acting First Sergeant, Senior Medic SFC Gary Weaver

Gary offered much information and support during the writing of An Introduction to War. We were honored when Gary requested that we use his actual name in the book. The first edition of the book does not represent actual persons except for Gary and the professors and doctors who influenced and saved John's life. Also, the character Raymond Allen is based upon crew chief Robert Long.

Sergeant Weaver was well-liked and well-respected.

Robert Long flew with the 236th for two years. Picture on left taken soon after the 236th's arrival to the Nam.

Joe Kralich was a lead medic with 196th stationed at LZ West. That's John sitting inside the cargo bay on his lead pad facing aft.
