Building Dreams of Love and Green by Linda Seebeth is the story of a man and a woman as they find that love does not come easy. Lydia is a widow and a mother of two beautiful young women. All her life has been about her daughters, giving them the best life and the best resources. Somehow, her own life was put on the backburner and it never moved forward from there. However, when she meets the charming John, she realizes her life can be rebuilt. He is everything she wants, but she can’t have him. Her daughters are not really happy with the idea of their mother falling in love again and John’s job is literally against everything she stands for. But love is love and Lydia is ready to take a chance on it if John wants to as well. Will they get a chance to build their lives together?
Building Dreams of Love and Green by Linda Seebeth is more than just a love story; this is an incredible tale of perseverance, of trusting again and finding yourself. Lydia and John are two very different people but they complement each other so well. John is a complicated man, he is smart and attentive. Lydia, on the other hand, is a little unsure of herself and a little hesitant too. They build each other up and make sure they support each other at all times. The narrative is incredibly rich; it is complex and allows the reader to make their own assumptions along the way. The debate on climate change acts as a good subplot and keeps the plot running for John and Lydia. This is an incredible story and maybe one of my favorites of the year. I loved this book!

Building Dreams of Love and Green by Linda Seebeth is an intelligently plotted and beautifully written contemporary romance with strong themes. Set in the 1990s when the world is experiencing rapid climate change, readers encounter Lydia, a widow who looks after two grown daughters. She wants to take care of her work and live peacefully, but when she meets John on New Year's Eve, she knows her life won’t be the same again. John is a likable, handsome land developer from Seattle. But those who are close to Lydia don’t like him. They see an enemy of the environment in him. From her boss at the environmental consulting firm to her twenty-year-old daughter, their attraction for each other meets with stern opposition. But love has a more subtle and powerful way of finding itself into the human heart, and that’s what happens to John and Lydia. Can they brave the odds and build a dream together?
Building Dreams of Love and Green by Linda Seebeth is a spellbinding, fast-paced, and emotionally engaging story of two souls with conflicting interests who fall in love and try to make it work against the backdrop of a rapidly changing environment. I loved the intelligence with which the author writes about environmental and social issues, creating commentaries that are engaging and allowing themes to evolve through the well-crafted drama. The reader gets close to the hearts of the characters. The conflict is built around the conservationist that longs to save the earth and the progressive entrepreneur whose work seems egoistic. Building Dreams of Love and Green is unique, original, and hugely inspiring.

Building Dreams of Love and Green is a work of fiction centered around issues of climate change and environmental activism and was penned by author Linda Seebeth. The drama unfolds between Lydia and John, who meet on New Year's Eve 1992 and feel an instant connection to one another. In a wider context, the pair comes from different worlds and philosophies, with John working as a land developer and the widowed Lydia working at an environmental consulting firm. The drama unfolds against the backdrop of a changing world and the growing climate crisis, discussing love against the odds and dreams for a better tomorrow.
Author Linda Seebeth takes the climate fiction genre into a whole new direction with this innovative and emotionally compelling interpersonal drama. As a cli-fi reader and fan, it's wonderful to see this sub-genre of themes and concerns branching out of the typical apocalypse-style fiction and becoming an everyday part of romance, drama, family life and work life as it does for Lydia and John. The emotional arc of the tale is well-plotted to deliver some excellent and poignant moments of realization for the characters, and the plot as a whole moves with elegant and well-paced strides into the future, encouraging readers to keep turning pages. Lydia is a very well developed heroine with much to root for and relate to, and it is her central journey of recovering trust and keeping hope alive that really sets Building Dreams of Love and Green apart. A highly recommended read.
